Chianti

Came home from work the next day, and took mum out to Chianti for dinner. Went there twice and this place is just absolutely great! I just love it~The food, exquisite!

I love the ambience there, and the cheesesticks they have on the tables when we arrive(I'm quite sure they're not there for decorative purposes).

For starters, we had Cape Sante al Forno - Streaky Bay scallops baked in the half shell with porcini mushrooms, parsley, lemon & garlic.

Mmm....I can just taste and smell the light mushroom flavour that envelopes the scallops as I'm writing this, and the scallops, so fresh. It was done to perfection!

For mains, we ordered the

PAPPARDELLE ALL'ANITRA Hand made broad pasta ribbons with roasted duck meat, grilled red peppers, spinach & toasted pine nuts

A rather unusual (to me at least) combination of ingredients for a pasta dish, but it blends superbly. The pasta, which I'm sure is freshly made, tastes miles away from the Coles instant pasta even when it's cooked till al dente. The duck meat which is rather tough by nature goes so well with the soft grilled peppers which have a naturally sweet flavour. The duck and the peppers are the stars of this dish!

PESCE AL CARTOCCIO Fillet of mulloway gently baked in paper with baby artichokes, porcini mushrooms, dry vermouth & lemon thyme

I've never been game enough to try artichokes, but they don't taste too bad. overall, this dish was really good. A little (very little) herby, sourish(from the artichoke?) and some white wine mixed with the sauces and Mulloway juices makes this dish really yummy! The best part was that the fish was not overcooked!

Both of us aren't big eaters, but we managed to finish the cheese sticks, bread, entrees and mains. This just goes to show how good the food really was! We were so full that there was no more room left for dessert, so we called for the bill.

The ambience, great!
The food, exquisite!!!
The price, expensive. =\ (but not a killer)
See, even the bill comes in this super posh super nice folder.

A must try. At LEAST once! =)

Wakkoon : It IS yummy! the pictures don't do enough justice! the lighting wasn't too good, (and)or my photography skills aren't great. =)) Chianti is on the corner of Hutt St and Carrington St.
